After mastering the equipment the student enters the career training phase, where, among other things, he/she is taught the responsibilities of a court reporter. The student sits-in at depositions and hearings with experienced reporters and submits transcripts for evaluation and one-on-one review.

   The student is usually qualified to commence working as a voice writing reporter within 5 to 6 months.

   Experienced reporters, of course, have long completed career training, begin working as a voice writer within 12 weeks and usually go on to realtime quickly.

   The CART provider also uses a cable link with realtime feed which gives the student the option to view the text in various locales.
